Corporate Structure

Party Up Publishing LLC (PUP) is an ever-growing and expanding new publishing house/author co-op. Because of this, everyone at PUP wears many hats and works as a cohesive team to help promote and grow our group. We were founded by Devin Auspland and Forest Getter, two authors with a mission to help fellow indie authors band together as a group, as a party.

President (Party Leader) – Chief Executive Officer and head of Party Up Publishing. Our party leader works at keeping the party together and flourishing. Their roles include but aren’t limited to; LLC formation/upkeep, treasurer, scouting new talent and conventions, hiring and brokering deals with supporting staff (editors, artists, and marketers).

Vice-President (Co-Leader) – Our Co-Leader acts as the President in his/her absence and works hard to grow the business. Their roles include but aren’t limited to; LLC formation/upkeep, treasurer, scouting new talent and conventions, hiring and brokering deals with supporting staff (editors, artists, and marketers).

Council Members - Council members are chosen from the members to assist in the day to day functions of PUP and help with oversight to ensure that PUP stays true to its purpose and intent. Council members will meet quarterly with the corporate team. During this meeting, the council members and corporate team will discuss a summary of business which will include access to financial records and contracts issued by PUP.

Why Join Party Up Publishing?

We offer a plethora of benefits to our authors. Our goal is to support our authors and give them the resources they need so they can focus on what they do best, writing. Because of this, we offer access to services like editing, cover artists, and marketing at discounted rates. When one PUP author succeeds, we all succeed and we strive to make the whole process as transparent and open as possible.

Here is a list of benefits you will gain:

  • Pre-negotiated group rates to editors, narrators, and cover artists.
    • A full list of available services can be found here. We are always trying to expand our available services. If you are someone who works in the industry and wants to work with PUP, please contact us.
  • Member only forums.
    • On our forms, we provide tips, tutorials, templates and a variety of other helpful information for authors whether they be seasoned or just starting out. This is an ever growing pool of resources that all of us pitch in to grow. We encourage our members to share their own resources there and make this a great place for people to learn.
    • We will also be purchasing, and developing, some webinars and online lessons regarding indie book marketing, writing, storyboarding and other areas of interest. Members will have a direct input in how we spend our resources and grow our knowledgebase.
  • Our street team.
    • We have a growing street team who help read our books before they release and offer feedback. They are passionate about the genres we support and help promote our titles through word of mouth, social media, forum posts, and reviews. Our Street Team are not professional reviewers and do not receive any compensation from PUP.
  • Mentorship program.
    • We offer a mentorship program where we pair newer authors with people who have published a handful of novels already and can help answer some of the beginner questions. Questions like, how do I sign up for KDP or should I go with exclusive distribution? The mentors, or party leaders, are available to answer questions the new authors may have in order to help ease them into the world of indie publishing.

Disclaimer: Although we have brokered deals with our service providers, that does not guarantee they will take on your project. Sometimes there are scheduling conflicts or other issues which may prevent one of our providers from being able to take on your work or possibly your story just isn't a particular fit for them. Example: A narrator may feel they would not do your story justice given their vocal range/ability and may suggest that you use another one of our services. If this happens, please let a PUP leader know and we will work with our service providers to find the best fit for you.

What does it cost?

As we mentioned before, PUP is designed to make this entire process transparent. We are very pleased to let everyone know that PUP membership is completely free!

Note: We will occasionally run community events, like an upcoming Anthology and group Kindle VELLA series, to help pay for the small fees PUP does face.

Our fees include, but aren't limited to:

  • Our site hosting fees
  • Purchasing webinars and/or tools for members
  • Marketing to promote our collective works

None of the funds raised in our community projects go to any form of compensation to our board members, leadership, ect. All funds are 100% funneled back into PUP to help grow the group and make it better for everyone.

What is the process?

The process to join PUP is simple and straight-forward. Follow the below steps:

  1. Submit your application to us by filling out the form located here. We ask that you provide a writing sample with your submission as our group is primarily focused on helping authors in the Fantasy, Sci-Fi, LitRPG and GameLit genres. Specific guidelines for the writing sample can be found on the application form submittal site linked above
  2. Wait to receive feedback from one of our officers. This typically takes 1-3 days where we will go through your writing sample and, if accepted, will send steps on how to sign up on our site.
  3. Finish your book (this is the hard part, right?).
  4. When you're ready to publish your book, we ask that you list Party Up Publishing LLC as your publisher and include a page at the end of your book to explain what we're all about. A template of this can be found on our member forums. This is to help raise awareness of our group and help us grow. We are all in this together and as we grow, so do our resources, street team and, in-turn, you as a member.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use my own editor, cover artist, or narrator?

PUP has access to excellent editors, cover artists, and narrators who are willing to help at a reduced rate. If you wish to go with your own, that's fine too.

How do I apply as a mentor or recipient of a mentor?

Steps for both are outlined in our member forums.
